Abstract: A method of instantaneous control type is considered for a simplified linear-quadratic parabolic boundary control problem with bound constraints on the control. The performance of the method is examined numerically and confirmed by an associated analysis. In particular, the method is shown to converge to a unique fixed point. In the same way, the receding horizon technique is investigated, and a new hybrid method is suggested.
