Abstract: We discuss in detail the mechanism of formation of a highly microporous polymer, CMP-1, formed mainly via Sonogashira–Hagihara coupling. We demonstrate how the microporosity evolves with time, and discuss the importance of alkyne homo-coupling on the microporosity.
