Abstract: 1-Butyl-3-methyl-pyridinium-dicyanamide (BMP-dca) is carbonised with tetra-alkyl-phosphonium-bromide additives yielding nitrogen- and phosphorus-co-doped carbons with enhanced BET surface areas promoted by the additives.
