| de |
dc.description.abstract | Novel Oxovanadium Complexes with Alkoxy, Ketone, and Alcohol Ligands: Syntheses, Characterization and Catalysis A series of vanadium complexes is synthesized. The effects of the reactants ratio, starting materials, and reaction media on the formation of the oxovanadium alkoxides are studied. Complexes [VOCl2(OCH3)(HOCH3)2] (1), VOCl(µOCH3)(OCH3)]2 (2), and [{VOCl(µ-OC2H5)(OC2H5)}2(µ-THF)] (3) are synthesized. [VO(µ-Cl)Cl{η2OC(CH3)2CH2OCH3}]2 (4) and [VO(µ-Cl)Cl{η2-OCH2(cyclo-C4H7O)}] (5), which bear bridging chloro ligands, are prepared by the reaction of VOCl3 with 1 equivalent of the corresponding alcohol. 4 undergoes reduction to afford [VOCl{µ,η2-OC(CH3)2CH2OCH3}]2 (15). [VOCl2(η2-OCH2CH2OR)(THF)] (R = Me (6), Et (7), iPr (8)), [VOCl2{η2-OC(CH3)2CH2OCH3}(THF)] (9) are obtained by reaction of the corresponding dimeric complexes with tetrahydrofuran. [VOCl2(η3-OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OC4H9)] (10) is obtained from the reaction of VOCl3 with 1 equivalent of the corresponding alcohol. [VOCl2{OCH2(cycloC4H7O)}{HOCH2(cyclo-C4H7O)}] (11) is prepared by reaction of VOCl3 with 2 equivalents of alcohol. Complex 11 is converted into [VOCl{OCH2(cyclo-C4H7O)}2] (12) under reduced pressure. [VO{OC(CH3)2CH2OCH3}3] (13) is synthesized by the reaction of VOCl3 with 3 equivalents of the corresponding alkoxide. Treatment of HOC(C6H5)2C(C6H5)2OH with 1 equivalent of VOCl3 leads to cleavage of the C–C bond to give [VOCl2(O=CPh2)2] (14). [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)]2 is reduced by PPh3 to give [VOCl2(OPPh3)2]•CH2Cl2. Alkylation of [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)]2 with (CH3)3SiCH2MgCl affords [VO{CH2Si(CH3)3}3], while alkylation with (CH3)3CCH2Li and PhCH2MgCl leads to vanadium(IV) complexes. When [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)]2 reacts with acetonitrile, [VOCl2(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)(CH3CN)] (16) is isolated, which is reduced to [VOCl2(η2-HOCH2CH2OCH3)(CH3CN)] (17) in the sunlight or by UV radiation. Similarly, [VOCl2(η2-HOCH2CH2OC2H5)(CH3CN)] (18) and [VOCl2{η2-HOCH2(cycloC4H7O)}(CH3CN)] (19) are produced. Complexes 1–10, 14–19, and [VOCl2(OPPh3)2]•CH2Cl2 are studied by X-ray crystallography. Catalytic ethylene polymerizations for [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)]2 in combination with methyl alumoxane or diethylaluminum chloride as cocatalyst and methyl trichloroacetate as promoter are performed. The [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(OCH2CH2OCH3)]2/diethylaluminum chloride system exhibits remarkably higher activity than the VOCl3/diethylaluminum chloride system. The polymers have high molecular masses with rather broad polydispersities. [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OR)]2 (R = Me, Et, Ph) are tested for styrene oligomerization in combination with methyl alumoxane as cocatalyst and methyl trichloroacetate as promoter. [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OCH3)]2 and [VOCl2(OCH2CH2Ph)] are tested for 1-decene oligomerization with methyl alumoxane as cocatalyst and methyl trichloroacetate as promoter. [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2-OCH2CH2OR)]2 (R = Me, Et, iPr), 5, 7, 8, and [VOCl2(OCH2CH2OPh)] initiate 1-hexene oligomerization in combination with diethylaluminum chloride or methyl alumoxane as cocatalyst and methyl trichloroacetate as promoter. The catalytic epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene is performed with tert-butyl hydroperoxide employing [VO(µ-Cl)Cl(η2- OCH2CH2OR)]2 (R = Me, Et, iPr), 4, 5, 10, and [VOCl2(OCH2CH2OPh)] as catalysts, wherein moderate yields of cyclooctene oxide are obtained. | en |
