| dc.description.abstract | In both the deontological and the teleological schools of thought the notion of responsibility has been construed in terms of transparency. Narrative ethical accounting demands that the agent has to make herself, her motives and her decisions transparent and to perform a coherent and unified identity. In this thesis, this ethical imperative of the transparent "I" is reconstructed as a case of ethical violence and challenged by the sceptical arguments found in Judith Butler's moral philosophy. Drawing on her conceptual matrix of corporeal precariousness, opacity, vulnerability, and non-violence, Ricoeur's moral philosophy of narrative identity and the ethical aim of a good life is closely examined. This serves as a groundwork for elaborating two intertwined questions: To what extent can a narrative approach inform ethical problems methodologically? And: Is it plausible to replace the principle of transparency in moral accunting by a notion of responsibility that systematically acknowledges the limits of acknowledgment itself? If so, how does it contribute to an ethics of vulnerability? | en |
| dc.description.abstract | Sowohl in deontologischen als auch in teleologischen Ethiken basiert der Verantwortungsbegriff auf einem Transparenzprinzip. Narrative Rechtfertigungen soll dazu dienen, sich selbst, die handlungsleitenden Motive und Entscheidungen maximal transparent zu machen, uns um so eine kohährente und vereinheitlichte Identität zu performen. In dieser Dissertation wird dieser Imperativ der Transparenz als ein Fall von ethischer Gewalt rekonstruiert und mit skeptischen Argumenten aus Judith Butlers Moralphilosophie konfrontiert. Unter Anwendung ihrer begrifflichen Matrix der körperlichen Prekärheit, der Performativität, der Opazität, der Verletzbarkeit und der Gewaltfreiheit wird Paul Riceours Ethik der narrativen Identität untersucht. Dies dient als Vorarbeit zur Bearbeitung zwei miteinander verworbenen Fragen: Inwiefern sind narrative Ansätze zur Beantwortung ethischer Probleme methodologisch sinnvoll? Und: Ist es plausibel, das Transparenzprinzip mit einem Verantwortungsbegriff zu ersetzen, der auf die Anerkennung der prinzipiellen und systematischen Grenzen der Anerkennung selbst setzt? Und wenn ja, inwiefern eignet er sich für eine Ethik der Verletzbarkeit? | de |
