| de |
dc.description.abstract | The concept of industrial product-service systems (IPS2) represents a promising approach to meet challenges of industrial production such as increasing complexity, global competition and the need for rapid adaptability to the current market situation. However, the influences of this novel approach on the design of human-machine systems (HMS) are still not enough investigated. In order to define the influences, a focus group discussion amongst IPS2-experts was conducted and documented by usage of the semi-formal C3-modelling technique. The general results of the focus groups were used for a morphological analysis to obtain more specific influences. It was found that additionally to international HMS design guidelines and norms, there are three major topics influenced by IPS2: (1) the concept leads to an increasing integration of IPS2-provider services into existing IPS2-customer processes and thus influences the areas of communication, coordination and cooperation between the stakeholders; (2) the networking of the actors and the implementation of remote access and remote control on the machines operated by the IPS2-customer require a differentiated design of HMS regarding safety rules on data protection and data access; and (3) the high heterogeneity of users and their function, roles and work tasks requires an IPS2-specific design of user profiles and distribution and provision of functions; high availability and adaptability throughout the IPS2-life cycle requires a concept to support users of different qualifications. Therefore, the aspect of (remote) user support was addressed by the development of a shared-vision system (SVS) which provides full gaze awareness to both worker (novice) and helper (expert). The system represents a technical solution within the intersection of the areas of problem solving and remote support in the context of collaborative work. It realizes a shared workspace for remote collaborative work with the focus on physical tasks. This system’s effects on remote collaboration were quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated in a Tangram puzzle task. In this task, a novice was guided by an expert for solving the puzzle. The expert guided the novice either by mouse, full gaze awareness or voice-only (control condition). There was not enough evidence found that one condition was significantly more efficient due to the high variance of free dyadic interaction as a main reason amongst others. The SVS development is a contribution for future research in the area of collaborative problem solving with physical tasks. | en |
